Wheelchair accessible showers allow handicapped individuals to enjoy a safe and comfortable bathing experience.
One of the most important aspects of an accessible bathroom design is circulation. Any user should be able to move around freely to access fixtures, even if he is confined to a wheelchair. The floor plan must include a 60-inch minimum diameter clear circle that will allow a wheelchair to turn 360 degrees. There must also be clear space in front of the sink measuring at least 30 inches wide and 48 inches deep. Toilets must have 48 inches of clear space in front, and bathtubs require a 30-inch-wide clear space running the length of the tub.
